The Saskatoon portion of The 8th Annual Great Plains Comedy Festival is in the books and was a resounding success.
Saskatoon witnessed sellouts across the board for festival events.
Festival comedians wowwed Saskatoon audiences in front of a standing room only Opening Ceremonies at Beily's, then on Tuesday, after a heartwarming performance at The Sherbrooke Community Centre, festival comedians moved to TCU Place to help make The Carol Burnett Show a huge success. Later that evening two new festival venues Amigo's in The Broadway District and Specklebelly's in Sutherland enjoyed wall to wall audiences witnessing hilarious comedians from across North America.
Wednesday featured another sell out at another first time venue, Vangelli's on Broadway.
Thursday night featured third year venue Tailgatorz selling out it's Best Damn Comedy Sports Show Overdrive only venue to be involved every single year, sold out its Women of Comedy Show.
Friday afternoon saw the 2nd Annual Sask Tel Youth Comedy Summit inform and entertain prospective young comedians on the possibilities of a future in comedy.
Friday night saw The 3rd Annual Potash Corp All Star Comedy Jam become the biggest Gala in Festival history. The move to The Galaxy Ballroom in The Saskatoon Travelodge turned out to be a good one. More than twice as many people attended this year's event as opposed to last year's. 650 people watched as Dez Reed continued to show why he is one of North America's hottest comedians.
Also performing amazing sets were Keith Barany, Myles Morrison, Jody Peters and festival first-timer Anthony Trombetta. The show was taped by SHAW TV for future broadcast.
Later that night Dez Reed headlined The Hillbillies of Comedy Show in front of a sell out crowd at Rodeo's.
Saturday night, the festival ended with sellouts at first time venue Clark's Crossing featuring Kelly Taylor and returning venue The Sutherland Hotel featuring festival first timer Flip Schultz.
Out of town success stories at Big Mur's in Dundurn, The Welcome Inn in Spiritwood, The Shellbrook Hotel, The Silver Bullet in Christopher Lake, The Candle Lake Country Club, The BAR BAR in Kennosee.
